Jax is a 1-year-old Shepherd mix. Even in the stress of the kennels, Jax is the sweetest boy. He craves time with people and would make the ultimate companion. He has been friendly with other dogs and every human he has met, although if another dog picks a fight with him, he is not submissive about it. He came in as a stray, and we are shocked no one ever came to track such a wonderful dog down. He's still young and does need work on not jumping up and minding the leash. He would not be good for a home with cats.

Loki is a young male husky mix, around 3 years old. He is a friendly playful fuzzball, with even more love to give than your average dog. His favorite activity is standing up on his hind legs and hugging his person for as long as they'll let him, or of course snuggle all night in bed. He's a husky chatterbox when he's bored in his kennel, making all sorts of comical noises. He will make a great companion for someone who can get him the love he needs. He is very fearful around aggressive or loud dogs, and can become reactive if the situation is not managed well for him. He is amazing at listening, and even when stressed by another dog, he keeps his attention on his person if asked to do so. He is not reliable around cats, and due to abuse when he was young, he is very anxious around young children.

Heidi is a 1-year-old Lab mix. She is a petite little girl, around 40 pounds. She loves to cuddle and lick your face and has never in her short life received the time and attention she deserves. She lived in a home with nine other dogs, where she was often picked on. This has created some reactivity toward other dogs, and some overall anxiety. With the right dogs she has made great friends, but will thrive best in a calm home with no other dogs, so that is our goal for placement.

Luis is a very sweet pit bull mix. He came to us as a stray so we don't know his history, but his present is pretty great. He knows how to sit, lay down, and be very loving. He can be a bit timid at first, but warms up and trusts quickly.

Bubba is a 4-year-old male, possibly labradoodle mix. When he's showing anyone how much he loves them, he seems like he has all the energy in the world, but when he gets into a home he loves to curl up on the couch, cuddle and relax. He will need to get out to get some regular walks in order to be his best self. He's been around kids and cats and does great. He does well with other dogs here at the shelter, but in a home he can be very jealous over attention when another dog is around, so he will need to be the only dog in the home.

Harvey is a 3-year old, 50 lbs. mix of mystery. Sadly, Harvey was picked up as a stray so his history is also a bit of a mystery but here are a few things that we’ve learned.
Harvey is a bit on the shy side, especially towards men. Whatever his past life was, it sure seems like he wasn’t treated great by dudes. Harvey is very much food motivated and as soon as he feels safe and comfortable, he really wants to please. So slow introductions with food is a must for right now. But Harvey does get nervous and was described by the shelter as “spooks easily”, we are requiring he not be placed in a home with children under the age 15. Even though Harvey needs a slow start, it doesn’t take but a few minutes before he’s comfortable. After only a few short days in his foster home, he’s made himself feel at home and at ease.
Harvey’s a big fan of other dogs. He’s been tested with an older (and very cranky) wiener dog and he did great. The smaller dog snapped at him and Harvey was non-reactive. He’s also been tested with another medium sized dog and did equally as well. He was introduced to a cat and although he barked a few times and showed interest, he did not pursue it.

Dodge is a female 4-year-old Redbone Hound dog. She loves to go out and get exercise so that she can then laze around the house happily with her people. She lives with a cat and has been around kids, she does wonderfully with both. She is very timid and fearful around other dogs, usually cowering or trying to hide, so we will place her in a home where she gets to be the only canine front and center.

Scarlett is a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix. She is a little overweight, but is so sweet you can understand why her family spoiled her. Her owners were broken hearted to surrender her because of their own health issues. She does well with other dogs as long as their not aggressive with her. She loves car rides and walks, but neither as much as she loves cuddling up on the couch.

Caspian is a senior pug. He's a very sweet chubby little man who wishes he had a bigger bark to scare off intruders. He loves to be a lap dog and does great in the car. He doesn't have perfect bladder control, but with frequent trips outdoors he does just fine.

Daisie is a 6-month-old border collie mix. She is the ultimate love bug. At about 35 pounds she is determined to be a lap dog, and probably always will. She settles down inside and adores endless snuggling. But that doesn't mean she doesn't have lots of energy too! She can spend hours playing outside and romping with her dog friends. She's been around dogs, cats, and kids, and done very well. But she's still a puppy! She jumps up, she nibbles on your fingers sometimes, and she needs consistent training to learn how best to show her love.

Ruger is a 5-year-old border collie mix, in the 40-45 pound range. He is deeply loyal and loving with his family. He has lived with other dogs, cats, and children, and has done wonderfully with all of them. There have been dogs that he has clashed with, but only in very specific circumstances.

Paco is a 3-year-old, 14 lb
Chihuahua/Terrier/Heeler mix. Paco loves the farm life, he enjoys running around outside and likes to follow you on the four wheeler. He may be little, but he is fast! While he may be active outdoors, he loves his downtime inside more than anything. He is great with kids, enjoys belly rubs and cuddling in for a good nap. His
favorite part of the day is to greet you at the door when you get home with a big smile.

Paco would be an amazing single dog as he can be dominant towards other
dogs. He is UTD on all his shots and neutered. Little Paco would be a great
companion as he loves attention and snuggling.

Smokey is a 9-year-old male Aussie mix. He is recovering from the loss of lifelong owner who recently passed away. In the turmoil of the loss, he has become very attached to the people caring for him, to the point of getting aggressive towards other dogs competing for that love and attention. He is a wonderful, loyal, devoted dog, but he needs to be the only dog in the home in order to feel the security he needs after this big loss. He hasn't spend lots of time on a leash, but when shelter staff worked with him briefly, he seemed like he would learn incredibly quickly. He still needs some exercise to be content, but mostly he just needs people to call his very own that he can build a new bond with.
