Transportation (OHS)

When you are traveling back and forth to Portland, we would appreciation your help with either the transportation of animals to the Oregon Humane Society (OHS) or transportation of food back from the Oregon Humane Society.

FOR TRANSPORTATION OF ANIMALS: OHS is a no kill, selective animal rescue organization that takes certain dogs and cats from other shelters in Oregon. Because they have so many incoming animals, we have to make an appointment for our dogs to be accepted; there are some breeds that they do not take, including pitbulls, rottweillers, and other powerful breeds. We make sure that our dogs will pass their tests for acceptability prior to their departure from La Grande. So when we are over-full with dogs, we will often give them a call. If you know when you are going and you can give us at least a week’s notice then we can arrange for you to transport up to four animals, depending on your capacity. Please give us a call for more details.

FOOD TRANSPORT: OHS also donates their extra food to area shelters. In order to get dog food for us all you have to do is show up at the OHS, tell the front desk you want food for the Blue Mountain Humane Association in La Grande, Oregon and they will help you load up your car. Please call us first, however, so that we can make arrangements with OHS about the pick-up; they have very flexible hours.
